Where olives grow in Manisa
Olive growing in Manisa concentrates around Akhisar and Saruhanlı. Akhisar is one of Turkey's table-olive centres and sets the province's table-oriented character.
The province lies inland in the Aegean region, under a more continental influence than the coastal provinces. That is an advantage in terms of chilling requirement and a risk in terms of winter frost.
What the figures say
Manisa is the fastest-growing of the six provinces: bearing trees went from 17.4 to 25.0 million over eleven years — a 43.9% increase, an expansion seen in no other major olive province.
With 623,493 t in 2024-25 it became Turkey's largest producer of olives. 34% of the crop went to table use, far above İzmir (9%) and Çanakkale (6%), reflecting Akhisar's table-olive tradition.
Its worst season was 101,887 t and its best 623,493 t. A near-sixfold swing shows that expansion has not broken alternate bearing.
