What stands out this week
Edremit recovered; the other exchanges were still. Extra virgin rose in Edremit from ₺254.33/kg to ₺268.47/kg (+5.6%, trade of 3 September). The Aydın (₺307.60) and Nazilli (₺201.09) rows have not changed since mid-August — no new trade was registered there. In the weeks before harvest, much of the table looking "frozen" is normal.
Table olives rose on the shelf; oil was flat. The supermarket average for green table olives went from ₺313.02/kg to ₺342.40/kg (+9.4%) and for black olives from ₺320.37 to ₺338.85 (+5.8%). Extra virgin oil, by contrast, barely moved, from ₺454.62/L to ₺453.85/L (−0.2%), while Riviera edged from ₺339.13 to ₺343.08 (+1.2%). The increase is in table olives, not oil.
European prices eased in all four countries. Spain from €3.50 to €3.46/kg, Italy from €4.88 to €4.85, Portugal steady at €3.45, Croatia from €10.77 to €10.71. In the same week the lira weakened against the euro (₺55.95 to ₺56.30), so the fall in euro prices did not pass through in full: the lira equivalent of the Spanish figure slipped only 0.5%, from ₺195.8 to ₺194.8/kg.
The cheapest shelf prices held once more: ₺249.00/L for extra virgin, ₺199.00/L for Riviera. Averages move, but a stable floor suggests the discounted lines are not repricing.
A note on comparison
The Turkish and European figures are not directly comparable: the European data is a weekly average producer price, the Turkish data the price of individual registered trades. Anyone comparing them must also account for the exchange rate and the difference in dates.
