Scattered trees along the Tigris
In Batman olives are found in scattered groves around the Tigris and its tributaries. The province sits at the edge of the Mardin-Şırnak-Siirt triangle on the Southeast's olive map.
Output is very small in scale and forms no commercial sector. The region's governing climatic constraint — high temperature and low rainfall — applies here as well.
What makes the province interesting is its location: Batman borders the range of Halhalı, the variety whose homeland lies in the Derik district of Mardin. Part of what is grown here comes from that genotype basin.
