Olive growing in Uşak

In the 2024-25 season Uşak harvested 115 tonnes of olives from 16.000 bearing trees — an average of 6.9 kg per tree. Of that crop 10 t went to the table and 105 t to pressing, yielding 21 tonnes of olive oil.

The last step inland from the Aegean
Uşak lies on the inland edge of the Aegean olive belt. Moving east from the İzmir-Manisa line the sea's influence weakens, winter cold hardens and olive land narrows sharply; Uşak is the last step in that narrowing.
Output is very small and gathers in the valleys opening towards the Aegean. The province does, however, sit at the edge of the range of the region's major varieties such as Ayvalık and Memecik.
Uşak also shows how concentrated the core of the Aegean is — the region alone supplies 53% of Turkey's crop, yet just outside that core the figures fall to fractions of a percent.
