Grove Removal and Replanting Calculator

A cleared olive grove does not come back in a season. Even if saplings are planted the same year, the soil does not return its old income for years — this calculates what that gap costs.

How the calculation works

  • The model is not invented here. It is the same calculation as our article on the ten-year decision: a replanted grove reaches 10% of full yield in the first harvest year, then 25, 45, 65, 80, 90 and finally 100%. If you change the years, the same curve is scaled to the new range.
  • The price is live. Leaving the price blank uses the average of exchange registrations for oil olives over the last 12 months — not a single day's registration, which does not represent a season.
  • Twenty trees per dekar is the traditional rainfed assumption (15-25 in the literature). Hedgerow planting exceeds 200 per dekar and changes the whole calculation — see 20 trees per dekar or 250?
  • Gross, not net. No costs are deducted from the income figures; the loss is the income that does not arrive.
