How the assistant works
The olive assistant answers questions using only the articles published on this site. It is not a general-purpose chatbot: it does not draw on the open internet and it does not rely on a language model's own memory.
What happens when you ask
- The question is checked. If it falls outside olives and olive oil, it is declined immediately — without being sent to any language model.
- The site is searched. Articles are split into sections and the passages relevant to your question are selected. Turkish spelling differences are ignored.
- The answer is composed. A language model writes the answer from those passages only, and marks each piece of information with its source number.
- Sources are listed. Every page used is linked, so you can open it and verify.
Why it is limited on purpose
A language model asked a question with no source will often produce a confident but invented answer. On a subject like olive growing — where figures matter, such as oil content, chilling requirement or flesh-to-pit ratio — an invented number is worse than no answer. So when the site has nothing on a subject, the assistant says so instead of guessing.
The figures on this site come from academic publications, the International Olive Council's variety catalogue and official price sources; each article names what it used.
